The Perfect Buoyancy and Navigation courses are perfect specialties to refine your skills and provide a strong skill base that will aid in your continuing education. The mark of a good diver is being able to move effortlessly through the water and Perfect Buoyancy is the program that will make this a reality. The diver who surfaces at the boat or at the exit point always impresses and the navigation course will make you that diver. By completing these 2 specialties and a total of 12 dives (includes all training dives) you will be awarded the SSI Specialty Diver rating and be well on your way to becoming an Advanced Open Water Diver.

Specialty Diver Card

Combine 12 logged dives with any two SSI specialty courses and Snorkel Safari will automatically award you with the SSI Speciality Diver award absolutely free! Don't forget that all your training dives count towards your logged dives so it's never been easier to obtain recognition for your training.

Continuing Your Education

SCUBA diving is quite addictive, as you begin to dive more often and gain additional experience, you may find yourself wanting to venture deeper than 18m or explore more challenging environments. Now you are on your way. There are many specialty areas you can get involved in with Snorkel Safari and SSI. It’s a matter of choosing your interest area and then getting your local Snorkel Safari shop to book you on a course. Whatever SSI Specialty you choose will help you to become a well rounded diver through the extra knowledge, skills and experience. Getting 4 specialty ratings is one prerequisite of becoming an SSI Advanced Open Water Diver.

Advanced Open Water Diver Card

By combining 24 Logged Dives with any four of the above specialty courses you will receive the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification free of charge to recognise your commitment to the sport. This is the highest rated Advanced Open Water Diver rating of all agencies. A SSI Advanced Open Water Diver is truly a better diver as they completed more training and experience than with any other agency. From your SSI Specialty Diver you are already 50% of the way there. Just look at the SSI specialty menu and speak to your local Snorkel Safai store to book your choosen two additional courses.

What makes a great diver?

A great diver is one who can not only look after themselves but is able to give assistance to others as well. A great diver has a high level of diving knowledge, skills and experience. So how do you become a “great diver”?

  1. Complete a number of specialties as explained above.
  2. Complete the SSI Stress and Rescue course where you will learn many types of self and buddy rescue skills as well as accident site management.
  3. If you haven’t already done so, get your SSI Dive Facility to help choose, fit and adjust your Total Dive System.
Master Diver Card

By combining 50 Logged dives with five of the above specialty courses (including Stress and Rescue) specialty courses you can earn the certification of SSI Master Diver.

These advanced ratings will provide with a broader skill set and allow you to considerably expand your diving opportunities. As your experience continues you may wish to lead groups of divers and ultimatly become a professional diving instructor yourself.
